Sharing and Handoff

Share

Click ↑ at the right of the toolbar, or choose File → Share…, to share the current page with the macOS share menu: AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Notes, Reminders, Freeform, Add to Reading List, the people you message most, and share extensions you've installed.

Copy Link

  • Copy Link (⌥⌘C, File menu) copies the page's address.
  • Copy Link as Markdown (in the command palette) copies it as [Title](address), ready for notes, issues and chat.

Handoff

With Handoff on (System Settings → General → AirDrop & Handoff → Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices), the page you're on in Litr shows up on your iPhone and iPad, signed in to the same Apple Account, in the app switcher and the Dock. Tap it to continue in the phone's browser.

It goes the other way too: with Litr as your default browser, a page you're reading in Safari on your iPhone appears in the Mac's Dock with Litr's icon. Click it and it opens in Litr, following your link rules.

Forget tabs are never handed off.

Good to know

  • Handoff is Apple's: the page's address and title go to your own devices through iCloud, as with Safari. Litr sends nothing itself.
  • Only web pages are handed off, not Litr's own pages such as settings.
  • Handoff needs a signed copy of Litr, such as the one from elyracode.com. A build you make yourself and sign ad hoc can share, but not hand off.
