Command palette
Press ⌘K (View → Command Palette…) to open the palette over the page. Type to filter, pick a result with ↑/↓ (or ⌃P/⌃N), and press Enter. Esc, or a click outside the palette, closes it.
What you can do
- Open a site you're running. Web servers running from a project folder
on this Mac (
npm run dev,cargo run,php artisan serve, …) come first, as localhost:5173 · Running · ~/Code/app · node. One that's already open in a tab is switched to. Programs that run from the system or your home folder (AirPlay, Spotify, databases without a web page) aren't listed. - Switch to an open tab. Type part of its title or address.
- Run a command: new tab, close tab, pin, schedule, find, reload, back/forward, zoom, history, settings, toggle sidebar, focus mode, open location, and Create Web App. Each shows its shortcut.
- Open or search. The first result is what the address bar would do with your text: Open example.com, or Search DuckDuckGo for "…".
- Open a page from your history. Up to six matching pages are listed after the tabs and commands.
Pages open in a new tab, or in the current tab if it is empty.
Matching
Matching ignores case. A match at the start of a title ranks highest, then one
at the start of a word, then one anywhere, then titles that contain your
letters in order with gaps. For example, nt finds New Tab.
Memory
The palette is a separate small window that exists only while it is open. It uses about 16 MB while visible, and that is released when it closes.
Asking in plain words
Type a request as a sentence, such as "close all YouTube tabs", "move the GPUI tabs to a room called GPUI" or "open github and sign me out of vg", and choose Do: “…” (the second result, under the search). Apple's on-device model works out which of Litr's actions you mean, and a strip under the toolbar says what Litr will do, for example Close 2 tabs (YouTube, Rick Astley – YouTube). Click Do It, or Cancel.
It can close, unload, pin and unpin tabs, move them to a room (making it if there's none), open a page, switch to or make a room, sign you out of a site, bookmark the page and reopen the last closed tab. It works on the tabs of the current room.
Litr only does what the request itself mentions: a site, a word or a room the model adds on its own is left out, and "all tabs" needs the request to say all. Closed tabs come back with ⇧⌘T. It needs macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence, like the assistant, and isn't in web apps.
