Elyra Huskarl · AI colleagues for the Mac

Colleagues who work,
and ask before it leaves.

Huskarl gives you bots with a role, a memory and logins of their own. They go through your mail, keep your calendar, read receipts and invoices, work in their own browser and hand you finished work in a chat thread. Everything that would go out in your name waits on a card until you say yes.

Free in rehearsal for as long as you like, and everything for the first 14 days — no card, no account. A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later; signed and notarized by Apple.

The name · Old Norse

húskarl n.

hús, house · karl, man

A húskarl — literally a «house-man» — was one of the trusted men of a Norse lord’s household: kept by the house, loyal to it, and at hand for whatever work or watch it needed. In Anglo-Saxon England they were the housecarls, the household guard of the king. A Huskarl on your Mac is the same idea: one of the household, doing its work — and never acting in your name behind your back.

V.01 — How it works

Describe the colleague.
Approve what it does.

01

Say what you need

Write the role in your own words — «keep my inbox tidy every morning and draft replies to customers» — and Huskarl suggests a name, instructions and a routine. Or start from a ready recipe.

02

Connect what it works with

Outlook or Gmail, the calendar, a folder, a few websites in its own browser, GitHub or Teams. Each login is made in your browser and kept in the Keychain; the bot never sees a password.

03

Approve what leaves

The bot reads, sorts and drafts on its own. Anything sent, paid, deleted or published becomes a card: approve, edit, reject or ask why. As it earns your trust, let it do more.

V.02 — What they do

Real office work,
handed back finished.

Huskarl comes with recipes for the work most offices have, and any bot can be shaped to yours. Each one keeps its own thread, memory and logins, and works while you do something else.

Inbox Manager

Goes through new mail as it comes: archives newsletters and notifications, drafts replies in the sender's language, and lists what needs you. Every reply waits as a card until you approve it.

Expense Manager

Reads each receipt you drop in a folder or forward to its own address, PDF or photo, and adds a line to the month's expense sheet. The receipt is moved to Done; nothing is submitted without you.

Meeting Briefs

A quarter of an hour before a meeting, ten lines on who is coming, what it is about, what was last said with them and what to have ready, searched from your own mail.

Dev Desk

Triages new GitHub issues, sums up pull requests that wait for review, drafts release notes, reminds you of your Félagi tasks and asks what hours to log, and hands a small, understood bug to a coding agent in Elyra Workspace.

Its own browser

Each bot has a Chrome of its own with its own logins, kept to the sites you allow. Watch it work, take over to type a password yourself, or show it how once and let it do the same next time.

Routines

At set times, when mail has come, when files land in a folder, before a meeting, when another bot finishes, or when something on your Mac calls its webhook. A routine that only looks costs nothing when there is nothing new.

Documents

Reports, letters and spreadsheets written to the bot's folder as Word, Markdown, CSV or Excel files, and attachments read as text: an invoice in a PDF counts as much as one in the body of a mail.

A team, with a chief

One bot can give the others tasks with limits it cannot exceed: only to read, only to mail one domain, only so many tokens. The answer comes back to the one who asked; a task never passes itself on.

Speak instead of typing

The microphone turns what you say into text in the chat box, recognised on the Mac in Norwegian or English. Siri can ask what is waiting, or put a question to a bot, while you are somewhere else.

V.03 — Trust

Nothing goes out
that you have not seen.

A bot reads mail and pages written by others, and some of them will try to steer it. Huskarl is built on the assumption that the model can be fooled now and then — and makes sure that being fooled never sends, pays or deletes anything. Safety is in every plan, the free one too.

The approval card

Whatever goes out in your name, costs money, deletes or publishes becomes a card with exactly what will happen. It points out an address that came from someone else's mail, a first recipient, a domain that looks like one you use, an account number that changed or does not add up.

Rehearsal and replay

In rehearsal a bot reads for real and only writes down what it would have done, so you see a week of its work before it may do any of it. Replay runs a past run again against what it read then, with new instructions.

Undo, and why

An approved mail waits half a minute before it goes, so you can take it back. Every card has Why?, which says what started the run, what the bot read first, and which rule made it ask.

What is confidential stays inside

Mark senders, domains or words in a subject as confidential. A run that has read such mail sends nothing outside your own domain unasked, whatever its rules say, and the card says why.

An audit log nobody edits

Every tool call, decision and execution is a row in a log that can only grow, each one hashed with the one before it. huskarld verify-audit says whether the chain is whole, without the daemon running.

A sandbox with one door

The agent runs in macOS's sandbox with Huskarl's tools as its only tools, writes only in its own folder, and reaches the network through a proxy that lets it talk to its model provider and nothing else.

Your Mac, your data

The bots, their memory, the threads and the audit log are on your Mac. Logins to your services are in the macOS Keychain, and Huskarl stores no AI keys of its own: the model is the one you already have. Wirelabs receives nothing of what your bots read or do — only the licence key and an id made from your Mac when a plan is activated. Speech and Apple’s on-device model never leave the machine.

V.04 — Works with

The tools you already use.

Outlook / Microsoft 365 Gmail Microsoft Teams GitHub Elyra Workspace Félagi eterm Siri Your phone (ntfy) Apple Intelligence Elyra Claude Code Grok Build

A bot is run by an AI agent on your Mac — Elyra, Claude Code or Grok Build — with the login you have. eterm can tell a bot when a command fails, and shows what waits for you; Elyra Workspace takes coding tasks a bot hands it.

V.05 — Plans

Free to rehearse.
Pay when it should act.

You pay for how much your bots may do on their own, never for safety. Approval, undo, Why? and the audit log are the same on every plan.

Questions

What people ask first

Does my mail go to you?

No. Huskarl runs on your Mac, its data stays in your home folder, and your logins stay in the macOS Keychain. Wirelabs never receives what your bots read or do. What a bot reads goes to the AI model you chose, under your agreement with that provider, and to nowhere else.

Which AI model does it use?

The one you already have. A bot is run by an agent on your Mac: Elyra with your Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI login, Claude Code with your Claude plan, or Grok Build. Huskarl stores no model keys of its own, and the model is paid for where you have it.

Can a bot send something without asking me?

Not unless you let it. Sending, paying, deleting and publishing wait for your approval by default; you may loosen sending to your own colleagues' domain, but paying and deleting can never be loosened. A bot can never approve anything itself.

What does free mean?

Without a plan Huskarl is rehearsal: bots work when you ask them, read for real, and write down what they would have done. The first 14 days everything is open, routines and actions included, with no card and no account.

What happens when a plan ends?

The bots go back to rehearsal. Nothing is locked: your threads, the audit log, exports and proposals already waiting stay as they are, and the next plan picks up where you left off.

How many Macs?

Three per user. Release a Mac in Huskarl's settings or under your licences here, and the seat moves to another. Business counts three for each user it is bought for.

Can I cancel, and is there a right of withdrawal?

Cancel any time; the plan runs to the end of what you paid for. Consumers in Norway have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase, and pay only for the days used.

What does it run on?

A Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later. Huskarl is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, and updates itself after checking the signature of every new version.
