Tables

A table is a grid of plain-text cells. The first row is the header and is shown in bold on a tinted background. Every row is 42 points high, and the columns share the table's width equally.

Inserting a table

Insert › Table opens the table editor with three columns and a header row. Type in the cells, use Add row, Add column, Remove row and Remove column, and choose Save. The table is placed below the lowest note on the page, 180 points per column wide.

Tables with more than 400 cells are edited as tab-separated text in the same dialog: one row per line, cells separated by tabs.

Editing cells on the page

Double-click a cell to edit it in place. While editing:

Tab	The next cell (wrapping to the next row)
Shift-Tab	The previous cell
Return	The same column in the next row
Esc	Finishes editing

Tabbing or pressing Return past the last row adds a new row.

Clicking a cell selects it (it gets a purple outline); Table › Edit Cell then edits it.

The Table tab

Edit Cell	Edits the selected cell
Clear Cell	Empties the selected cell
Whole Table	Opens the table editor for the selected table
Insert Above / Insert Below	Adds a row next to the selected cell
Delete Row	Deletes the selected cell's row (a table keeps at least one)
Insert Left / Insert Right	Adds a column
Delete Column	Deletes the selected cell's column (a table keeps at least one)
Copy Table	Copies the table as tab-separated text, ready to paste into a spreadsheet
Paste Cells	Pastes tab-separated text from the clipboard, starting at the selected cell, growing the table as needed
Transpose	Swaps rows and columns

Copied text quotes cells that contain tabs, line breaks or quotes, the way spreadsheets do, and Paste Cells understands the same quoting.

Limits

A table can have up to 476 rows and 50 columns, and a cell up to 100,000 characters. Cells are plain text: there is no formatting, merging or sizing of individual rows and columns.
