History, versions and the recycle bin
Undo and redo
⌘Z undoes and ⇧⌘Z (or ⌘Y) redoes. Every change is one step, whether it's a piece of typing, a format, a moved note, a stroke, a new page or a whole Replace All. Notr keeps the last 100 steps, and fewer when they are very large.
- Typing is committed after a short pause, so a burst of typing is one step. While you're editing a note, ⌘Z first undoes within the note.
- Undo and redo keep your view: the theme, zoom and layout don't change, and you stay on the current page if it still exists.
- History lasts for the session. It is not saved when you quit.
Page versions
A version is a named snapshot of a page that you keep.
- History › Save Version saves the current page as a version. A page keeps its 20 most recent versions.
- History › Page Versions lists the versions with their dates. Choose one and confirm to put its title, notes, ink and paper back on the page. Restoring can be undone, and the page's other versions are kept.
Versions are saved in the database and in .notespace backups. Duplicating a page
doesn't copy its versions.
Recent edits
History › Recent Edits (or Order in the page list) lists the current section's pages by when they were last changed. Choose it again to return to the section's own order.
The recycle bin
Deleted pages go to the recycle bin rather than disappearing: pages you delete, and the pages of sections and notebooks you delete. It holds up to 2,000 pages.
History › Recycle Bin lists them, newest first. Choose one to put it back at the end of the section it came from, or of the first section there is if that section is gone. A restored page comes back as a top-level page, not as a subpage.
Restoring brings back the page, not the sections or groups that were deleted around it.
