Links and the command line
sftp:// and ssh:// links
etrans offers to open sftp:// and ssh:// links, from a browser, Finder,
a document or open:
sftp://deploy@web.example.com:2222/var/www
The link's user, host and port are the server, and its path is where the server
pane opens; ~/site after the host is from your home folder there. The link
opens in a window that is not connected to anything, or a new one.
macOS keeps whichever app handled these links before as the default. To make
etrans the default, choose it in that app's settings, or with a tool such as
duti.
The command line
/Applications/etrans.app/Contents/MacOS/etrans sftp://user@host [options]
The address can be user@host, user@host:port, an alias from
~/.ssh/config, or a link as above. The options are ssh's:
| Option | |
|---|---|
-J jump |
Go through a jump host: a saved server's name or user@host:port, several separated by commas. |
-L [bind:]port:host:hostport |
A local forward. |
-R [bind:]port:host:hostport |
A remote forward. |
-D [bind:]port |
A SOCKS proxy. |
-L, -R and -D can be given more than once. For example:
etrans sftp://deploy@web-1 -J bastion -L 5432:db.internal:5432 -D 1080
Forwards from the command line run for that connection; they are not saved with a server.
