Licence and updates

The trial

Elyra VM runs for 10 days from the day you first use it on a Mac, with nothing held back. The library says how many days are left, with Buy a Licence and Enter Licence… beside it. When the trial is over, VMs don't start until a licence is entered; your VMs, their settings and snapshots stay as they are.

A licence

A licence is USD 39, from https://elyracode.com/elyravm. It is for a year of updates, on two Macs. You get a licence key by email, and your licences and the Macs they are on are under your account at elyracode.com.

To enter it: Elyra VM › Licence…, paste the key, Activate. Elyra VM asks elyracode.com once to put this Mac on the licence; after that it doesn't need the Internet to run. From the command line:

elyravm licence # the licence, or the trial's days left
elyravm licence activate <key>
elyravm licence deactivate # gives this Mac's place to another
elyravm licence refresh # after renewing

To use the licence on a third Mac, deactivate it on one of the two (Licence… › Deactivate), or remove that Mac at elyracode.com.

Updates

Elyra VM looks for a newer version half a minute after it opens and once a day, and Elyra VM › Check for Updates… looks at once. A newer version shows in the library, with Install; Elyra VM downloads it, checks that it is signed by its developer, and puts it in place of the one you have. Relaunch opens it. VMs that are running go on running.

Updates come with the licence's year: what is released during it is yours to keep, and runs after the year is over. A version released later shows in the library with Renew: renewing (at elyracode.com, for another year) brings it, and Elyra VM learns of the renewal by itself within a day (or at once, with elyravm licence refresh).
